How likely is it that identity theft charges will be dropped in my case?

I am 18 years old and have had a perfectly clean criminal record up to date. I was recently arrested for making charges on a credit card that was stolen. I did not know it was stolen at the time of use. My friend gave it to me, telling me it was his mom’s, and I went to pick up some things for him with it. As of now I am being charged with Identity Theft (Felony Class 4) and Unauthorized Use of a Financial Transaction Device. With a good defense attorney, would it be at all possible to get my charges reduced or perhaps even dropped? I just really don’t want to do jail or prison time for a naive mistake.
Well, at the time he told me he got graduation money and his mom was letting him use her card. Thinking I had nothing to worry about I believed him. On a different subject, I didn’t exactly steal the person’s identity. They did not ask me for identification in the store I went to, and I told them it was not my card.

“My friend gave it to me, telling me it was his mom’s”
Even you wouldn’t believe that
wow sorry for that. it all depends the state you live in and their laws. also your age matters alot also. being that u have a clean record, with a good attorney you can get that felony dropped maybe to the highest class misdemeanor charge. which will result in some years of probation and or community service. it also depends whos pressing charges.
Something like this just happened with my boyfriend. But, he had 5 felonies. One which was identity theft. He had no background history whatsoever before this happened. Guess what? Everyone I talked to said different things would happen. Just a month ago he went to court and go served only 5 years probation. He had a public defender too. I wouldnt waste my money on a lawyer. But really, it all depends on how much the person cares. Sometimes they don’t give a ****. Good luck though!
