No you should not worry about credit card fraud because you are not even old enough to get a credit card. And no you prolly dont have a credit report yet,
someone can steal your identity
i’d call your local social security office/courthouse and ask someone there. i’d guess you’re safe, but you never know. good luck!
Yes you should worry. I woud check your credit report and make sure its ok. You are only 16 but people could still use your identity. Go to annualcreditreport.com and check it out.
Yes, you should worry. Call the three major bureaus (equifax, experian, and transunion) and explain the situation. They should put a “hawk alert” which prevents any new credit being opened with that name and number. If they don’t currently have a credit file on you, they should be able to prevent one from being opened.
To the response below me, you cannot cancel a Social Security card or number – it is yours for life, and there is no provision for getting a new one. This is why identity theft is such a hassle to fix.
You should tell your parents and have them call the Social Security people to cancel your card. Talk about credit! Kids about 9 years old have had their identity’s stolen. Call to cancel or change your number right now and if you find your card later after you got a new one burn it or something. Although you are a minor they can still use your SSN Number to get Credit Cars and use them.
Do you own any CC? Do you have a bank account? Do you pay utilities? Do you have a car payment? if you answered no to one or all of these questions. You don’t even have credit.
You are smart to consider your credit at this time. Many times credit card companies and other sources need more then just a credit card number and your name, but if you are worried about someone stealing your credit, sign up at a website like Triple Alert (Website Below- I use this, this is great) or myFico and sign up for their monitoring service.
If something comes up on the credit monitor, you can immediately dispute or contest the charge with the specific credit agency. If you catch it fast, it’s fairly easy to get off if you can prove it wasn’t you.
Just because you are young (16) does NOT mean that you your identity can not be stolen. An extreme situation; in high school I once had a friend whose Mom had bad credit and she used his credit record to get credit cards and an apartment, etc and now he is responsible for these debts when he turned 18.
